Gene Hackman Case: Actor’s 3 Kids Left Out of His Will
- Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Santa Fe, N.M., home on February 26 by maintenance workers who alerted the caretaker, who then called 911.

- Hackman seemingly died on February 18, with his death attributed to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease, according to the New Mexico Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Heather Jarrell, who noted, "It's quite possible he was not aware she was deceased."
- Following the deaths, Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated there was no immediate danger to the community and that a preliminary death investigation was underway, with Tim Hackman, the actor's nephew, mentioning that toxicology reports were pending to determine the cause of death amidst various theories.
