Trade War · United StatesPresident Trump plans to issue an executive order to extend the pause on his steep, so-called reciprocal tariffs to Aug. 1, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday. The pause had been set to expire Wednesday. The announcement came as Trump on Monday began sending letters to Japan, South Korea and other nations threatening them with the reimposition of tariffs. Leavitt suggested over a dozen nations in total would receive the notifications, which would also be posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform. Other countries “will take the letters seriously because they have taken the president seriously,” Leavitt said, adding that the delay is “is in the best interest of the American people.”See the Story
