A Russian warship has allegedly seized a wave-measuring buoy belonging to the Department of Marine Systems at Tallinn University of Technology TalTech from Estonia's exclusive economic zone and taken it to Kaliningrad, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported on Monday.


The Russian Navy stole a wave buoy from the TalTech Marine Systems Institute and took it to Kaliningrad. There were no Estonian Navy ships in the area, the Latvian ship arrived when the buoy had already gone. The Navy Commander does not believe that this was a Russian attempt to control the reaction of Estonia and Latvia, perhaps the Russians considered the 50-centimeter diameter device a navigational hazard.
