64,000 Alpaca Toys Recalled Due to Choking Risk for Children
JoJo Maman Bébé and Inkari recalled 64,000 plush toys and various children's clothing items due to choking and scratching hazards, with no reported injuries so far, officials said.
- A CPSC release says a recall was issued for 64,000 Inkari Plush Alpaca Toys and JoJo Maman Bébé Ltd is recalling childrenswear sold via Next and JoJo Maman Bébé stores.
- Regulators concluded Inkari toy eyes can detach, violating the small-parts ban for children under three and posing a choking hazard, while poppers used for fastenings were improperly attached, risking scratches or choking.
- The recall specifically covers five Inkari collections: naturals, baristas, rainbow, monsterfluffs, and limited edition, and consumers must cut the toy's fur and submit a photo to support@inkari-alpaca.com for verification.
- The CCPC advised consumers to discontinue use immediately and keep recalled items out of children's reach, and Inkari told consumers to stop using plush toys and contact for refunds: `please return the product to the store for a full refund`.
- The CPSC noted that toys were sold at U.S. specialty stores and online via Amazon.com, Etsy.com, and Inkari-alpaca.com from November 2020 to July 2025 for $25 to $100, with no injuries reported; about 30 girls' and four boys' clothing items are affected in the Republic of Ireland.
