Idaho man arrested after allegedly hitting protester with car at Tesla dealership

  • On Saturday, March 29, 2025, around 1 p.m., Christopher Talbot, a 70-year-old man from Meridian, was arrested after an incident outside a Tesla dealership on Franklin Road during dueling demonstrations.
  • Tensions arose between approximately 30 protesters from groups like Troublemakers and The Disruption Project, who opposed Elon Musk's political activities, and nearly 200 counter-protesters mobilized by the Idaho Liberty Dogs in support of Musk.
  • According to the Meridian Police Department , Talbot allegedly made an obscene gesture toward a 49-year-old man who had just parked and exited his truck displaying pro-Trump flags, and then struck him with his car.
  • Frank Gerry, the 49-year-old victim, stated, "He hit me with the mirror...It was intentional, and a deadly weapon is a car," after recording Talbot's license plate and driving himself to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before being released.
  • Talbot was later located at his Meridian residence, arrested without incident, and booked into Ada County Jail on one count of aggravated battery, while the MPD urged the public to respect everyone's right to protest peacefully and refrain from violence.
