Human body discovered in burning car in Dublin

Gardaí are treating the discovery of a body in a burning car as suspicious while forensic examinations and a postmortem are planned, officials said.

  • On Monday, An Garda Síochána discovered a body following a vehicle fire at Killeek Bridge, Killeek Lane, north County Dublin shortly after 11am.
  • Firefighters raced to the scene after reports of a burning vehicle, and the Dublin Fire Brigade extinguished the blaze, finding human remains inside.
  • Gardaí have sealed both entrances to a narrow country road between Killeek graveyard and the Old Brazil Road near Killeek Bridge, with the car not visible from either end as inquiries continue.
  • A postmortem examination will be carried out to determine the course of the investigation, while An Garda Síochána declined to comment as inquiries continue.
  • The site lies north of Dublin Airport in a remote road network east of Swords, serving mainly farmland, market gardening, and small enterprises with little traffic.
