DELHI, INDIA, JUL 22 – Delhi government raises cash awards up to Rs 7 crore and offers Group A and B government jobs to medalists; 1,200 Class 10 students to receive free i7 laptops under new scheme.
- On Wednesday, the Delhi government announced increased cash awards and government jobs for medal-winning athletes during a Cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat in New Delhi.
- Aiming to promote sports and reward excellence, officials decided to revise cash incentives under the Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana, prompted by the need to bridge disparities with other states, Ashish Sood told mediapersons.
- Sood detailed that medal winners will collect Rs 7 crore for gold, Rs 5 crore for silver, Rs 3 crore for bronze medals, and Olympic and Paralympic medallists will be offered Group A jobs while bronze get Group B posts.
- Under the Mukhyamantri Digital Scheme, Ashish Sood announced approval, ensuring 1,200 Class 10 meritorious students receive free high-performance i7 laptops.
- Noting the lack of functional labs, Sood revealed, the Delhi government approved establishing 175 new ICT labs with 40 computers each.
