China intelligence agency says it has detained individual accused of collecting secrets for Britain
China's Ministry of State Security has detained a foreigner accused of spying for the British Secret Intelligence Service amid a campaign to counter espionage in the country.
The individual, named "Huang," allegedly gathered information for MI6 while working for a foreign consultancy. MI6 provided Huang with training and spying equipment.
This case follows China's increased publicizing of alleged espionage by Western countries, with previous cases focusing on the CIA. Beijing has launched campaigns to raise awareness of foreign spying.
