India Approves $8.8b Defence Allocations for Army, Navy and Air Force

- On December 29, 2025, the Defence Acquisition Council chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh accorded Acceptance of Necessity for service proposals totalling about Rs 79,000 crore across the Army, Navy and Air Force.
- Acceptance of Necessity formally starts the defence procurement process and provides official clearance for proposals to enter acquisition, the Defence Acquisition Council said.
- For the Indian Army, the DAC cleared Loiter Munition Systems, Low-Level Lightweight Radars, Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for the Pinaka MRLS, and the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System Mk-II to enable precision strikes, detect low-flying drones, and strengthen asset protection, the Defence Ministry said.
- For the Indian Air Force, AoN was granted for an Automatic Take‑off and Landing Recording System, Astra Mk‑II missiles, a Full Mission Simulator for Tejas and SPICE‑1000 kits to improve flight safety, training and strike range.
- Taken together, the package pairs Bollard Pull tugs and HF SDR Manpacks with HALE RPAS and Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition to enhance strike, surveillance, and asset protection.
