- The CBI registered the case on December 19, 2025, in New Delhi after receiving inputs alleging a possible bribe payment by a Bengaluru-based company.
- During searches in Delhi and Sriganganagar, officials seized Rs 2.23 crore and Rs 3 lakh alleged bribe money at Sharma's Delhi residence, plus Rs 10 lakh from his wife's Sriganganagar, Rajasthan house.
- Investigators say a Dubai-linked firm is under scrutiny after company representatives Rajiv Yadav and Ravjit Singh were in contact with Lt Col Sharma, while CBI searched Delhi, Sriganganagar, Bengaluru and Jammu.
- Sharma, who handles international cooperation and exports, is alleged to have habitually engaged in corrupt activities with private companies dealing in defence manufacturing and exports in the Department of Defence Production.
