Wisconsin Clerks Refer 46 Cases of Suspected Fraud, Irregularities in Election

Wisconsin clerks referred 127 cases of suspected voter fraud and irregularities from Sept. 2024 to Nov. 2025, with 61 tied to a costly Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

  • The Wisconsin Elections Commission released a report showing 127 potential fraud cases referred by election clerks to local prosecutors between Sept. 13, 2024 and Nov. 5, 2025.
  • Wisconsin law requires clerks to notify the Wisconsin Elections Commission when referring suspected fraud, and with more than 1,800 local clerks, the prior report showed 30 referrals from July 1, 2023 to Sept. 12, 2024.
  • Earlier this year, 61 referrals concerned the Wisconsin Supreme Court races with nearly 2.4 million ballots, including 12 instances of felons voting and clerks flagging double voting.
  • Removing the drop box prompted an ethics finding last month and referral by the city election clerk to the elections commission, while a criminal probe led by Eric Toney, Republican district attorney , is ongoing.
  • The WEC cautioned that the report may not be comprehensive, as some cases could bypass local clerks or district attorneys, and the identified violations represent far less than 1% of votes cast, with 80 cases about 0.002%.
