The Canadian province of British Columbia (BC) proposed new rules to regulate how GHG reductions from refrigeration and air-conditioning systems can generate carbon offset credits, according to a draft protocol released on Tuesday.
The smoke of more than 200 fires ravaging forests in half of Canada's provinces has reached Europe and Russia in recent days and is severely affecting the north of the United States. Experts warn: this is a climate issue that may now need to be used.
Currently, the fire brigade is fighting more than 220 fires, half of which are not yet under control. Climate change is regarded as an amplifier of such fires.
There are currently 220 fires burning in Canada, about half of which are out of control. The haze is also reaching Germany—as evidenced by the currently reddish moon and spectacular sunrises.
