- In February, Disney+ announced the 20th anniversary special following last year’s hints, and Miley Cyrus, singer and actor, calls it a tribute to fans celebrating the series' legacy.
- Filmed before a live audience of 215 at Sunset Gower Studios, Hollywood, the special is hosted by Alex Cooper and produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, featuring archival footage and recreated sets.
- Only two original cast members are confirmed: Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, while Starbucks launched the Secret Popstar Refresher as a secret-menu tie-in.
- Despite tour rumors, no concert is planned and Cyrus will debut a new Hannah Montana song, ending a roughly 15-year performing hiatus for the persona.
