USWNT to Face Top-Ranked Spain at Subaru Park in October
The two friendlies will test the USWNT against the world’s top-ranked side before World Cup qualifying begins.
On Monday, U.S. Soccer announced the U.S. Women's National Team will host reigning World Cup champions Spain for two October friendlies, serving as crucial preparation for the 2027 World Cup.
USWNT head coach Emma Hayes noted that scheduling top-tier opponents remains difficult due to international calendars, making these matches "perfect tests" before World Cup qualifying begins later this year.
Audi Field in Washington, D.C., will host the first match on Oct. 10 with a retirement ceremony for legendary defender Crystal Dunn, while the second game follows Oct. 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Tickets for both friendlies become available to the general public on July 16 following presale rounds, as the world's top-ranked teams prepare for next year's tournament in Brazil.
In November, the USWNT competes in the Concacaf W Championship in Texas, which serves as the team's formal qualification path for the upcoming 48-team World Cup in Brazil.
Spain, the current world champion, will play against the US Olympic team on October 10 at Audi Field, Washington DC, and on October 13 at Chester, Pennsylvania.
