- The collision happened shortly after midnight and involved a 19-year-old driver allegedly impaired and speeding while exiting the highway.
- The Dodge Caravan driven by Ethan Lehouillier lost control, crossed a raised median, and hit a stopped Chrysler Pacifica, killing the three children.
- Lehouillier has been formally charged with a total of 12 offenses, among them three allegations related to impaired driving that resulted in fatalities; however, these charges have yet to be proven in court.
- The Lavina-Galve family, identified as Filipino Canadian, expressed devastation and are planning a funeral for the children on June 14, while the community mourns the loss.
