Hundreds Gather for Gaudreau Family 5K Run/walk
- On Saturday at Washington Lake Park in New Jersey, the first-ever Gaudreau Family 5K event combined a walk/run and Family Day to remember brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, less than a year after their passing.
- The event was organized to support the fundraising efforts for a fully inclusive playground at Archbishop Damiano School, a mission the brothers had supported before their passing and which is now being carried forward by their mother Jane and daughter Kristen.
- About 1,100 people participated in person, with over 1,300 joining virtually from the U.S., Canada, and globally, while several NHL players attended to support the family and cause.
- The Gaudreau family had raised $400,000 toward their $600,000 fundraising goal, with Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk commenting, "I think it speaks to them as a family, how close they were."
- The family aims to make the event annual, potentially expanding to Calgary or Columbus, as the fundraiser reflects the brothers' community impact and strong ongoing support.
