KONKAN DIVISION, MAHARASHTRA, AUG 1 – Shardul Thakur leads a youthful West Zone squad blending seven Mumbai players and others to compete in the Duleep Trophy 2025, returning to the zonal format after a year.
- Following a selection meeting at the Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy in BKC, Mumbai, the West Zone team will be led by Shardul Thakur for the Duleep Trophy, announced on August 1.
- The West Zone Selection Committee did not name Shreyas Iyer as skipper, citing the possibility of his selection for the Asia Cup from September 9 onward, as the Duleep Trophy returns to the zonal format.
- West Zone's squad includes Thakur, Jaiswal, Iyer, Khan, Gaikwad, with seven Mumbai players and wicketkeepers Desai and Nawale from Saurashtra and Maharashtra.
