Maharashtra TET Leak: Question Papers Smuggled Out in Shoe Insoles for ₹8,000, Says Chargesheet
Police say the leak involved 18 accused and an interstate racket that moved papers from an Agra press to Maharashtra for sale.
- On Saturday, the Thane City Police filed a nearly 3,500-page charge sheet in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test paper-leak case, naming 18 accused in an interstate network allegedly masterminded by Bijendra Gupta.
- Investigators allege that employees at Mahim Patran Pvt. Ltd., an Agra printing press, smuggled confidential question papers by concealing them in shoe insoles and received ₹8,000 each for the theft.
- Police unravelled the network on June 27 after Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police Pavan Bansod received a tip-off, prompting a decoy operation in Bhiwandi that seized four sets of question papers.
- Of the 18 individuals charged, 16 have been arrested while accomplices Ashok Sav and Prakash Misal remain absconding; the accused face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and criminal conspiracy.
