Pakistani intruder shot at, arrested by BSF troops along International Border in J&K's Kathua
JAMMU AND KASHMIR, AUG 11 – The intruder ignored repeated BSF warnings and was injured during the attempted infiltration, later dying despite hospital treatment, officials said.
- On Monday, BSF personnel fired on and detained a Pakistani intruder near the International Border in Kathua, injuring him and taking him into custody.
- Amid intensified operations, forces maintain a 24/7 vigil along the LoC and IB following the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, to prevent infiltration.
- Noticing the intruder around 4 pm, BSF troops challenged him and fired on his legs after warnings were ignored in the Hiranagar sector.
- Meanwhile, BSF lodged a formal protest with Pakistani counterparts after the Pakistani intruder later died at AIIMS, Vijaypur, from injuries sustained during the incident.
- Last month, the BSF formed its first drone squadron with UAVs and trained personnel to enhance border surveillance following Operation Sindoor lessons.
