It's hard to believe that the Pilatus towering over Lucerne was considered a cursed mountain for centuries. It's hard to say whether the reason was its impressive height (exactly 2,132 m above sea level) and ominous-looking peaks hidden among the clouds, or rather the legend that the body of Pontius Pilate himself was laid to rest in the lake at the top, which is where the official name of the mountain comes from.
