A longtime area sportswriter and the founder of the Arkansas Sports Media polls has died after a lengthy illness. Scott McDonald died Tuesday in Springdale at the age of 56. McDonald worked for the Baxter Bulletin and Harrison Daily Times covering high school sports in north central Arkansas for many years. He also worked at newspapers in Batesville and Russellville.
