The European Parliament today took a step forward towards ratifying the EU-US trade deal reached last summer. The European Parliament's International Trade Committee voted to reduce EU tariffs on certain imported US goods, as stipulated in the agreement, but also agreed to additional safeguard measures.
The EU and US customs deal should create clear conditions. EU parliamentarians, however, call for commitments from Washington – and note when the agreement can be suspended.
