BBC MasterChef Announces New Hosts as Gregg Wallace and John Torode Replaced - Liverpool Echo
Grace Dent and Anna Haugh take over as hosts after a report upheld over 40 claims of misconduct against previous hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode, ending their 20-year tenure.
- On Monday the BBC confirmed Grace Dent, journalist and restaurant critic, and Anna Haugh, Dublin-born chef, will co-present MasterChef's 22nd amateur series.
- Following reports about on-set behaviour, the show's production team commissioned a review that substantiated complaints, prompting Banijay UK and the BBC to reassess the hosting roles.
- Banijay's findings included specific upheld allegations with the Lewis Silkin review upholding 45 out of 83 claims against Gregg Wallace, including one of `unwelcome physical contact`, and a racist-language claim against John Torode.
- It said: `After careful consideration and consultation with the contestants, we have decided to broadcast the amateur series of MasterChef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6 August`, while filming for the next series begins imminently with Anna Haugh judging the final week.
- The new presenting arrangement places Dent and Haugh at the forefront of the main MasterChef series while the BBC has not revealed plans for the completed celebrity series as the franchise adapts this year.
