- The AAP leader has been protesting against E20 fuel, which blends 80 per cent petrol and 20 per cent ethanol, arguing it damages vehicle engines. On August 4, police stopped his march toward the Prime Minister's residence, prompting a protest on Firoz Shah Road.
- Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu rejected the ethanol-ATF claim as "completely false and irresponsible." BJP IT department head Amit Malviya called the allegations "fake news," asserting the Centre has no decision to increase ethanol blending beyond E20.
- The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that an April notification amended Aviation Turbine Fuel definitions to include Sustainable Aviation Fuel, not ethanol. Officials emphasized that ethanol and SAF are chemically distinct and should not be conflated.
- India has set indicative Sustainable Aviation Fuel blending targets of 1 per cent by 2027, 2 per cent by 2028, and 5 per cent by 2030 for international flights. The government maintains the ethanol blending programme underwent rigorous testing and consultation with industry stakeholders.
