Lebanon Says Israel Has Bombed It Nearly 3,500 Times During Ceasefire
Nawaf Salam said the strikes and demolitions have flattened villages in the south and driven additional waves of displacement, officials said.
On Monday, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reported that Israel has carried out nearly 3,500 air strikes and hundreds of controlled explosions since the US-brokered ceasefire began on April 17.
While the ceasefire largely halted strikes on Beirut, fighting persists in southern Lebanon between Israel and Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah, which has rejected US-mediated talks aimed at a lasting agreement.
From April 17 to June 7, data from Salam's office shows 3,491 air strikes, 407 controlled demolitions, and six "razing" operations, leaving entire villages in southern Lebanon flattened.
More than 1 million people have been displaced across Lebanon since the war erupted on March 2, with ongoing escalation straining the country's ability to host fleeing families.
United States President Donald Trump said last week that Middle East ceasefires involved "shooting in a more moderate manner," describing conflict persisting rather than halting entirely.
