Houston ICE crackdown: Over 1,300 arrested, including child predators and gang members
HOUSTON AREA, SOUTHEAST TEXAS, JUL 14 – The operation targeted undocumented immigrants with serious criminal convictions, including 32 child sex offenders and 16 gang members, to improve public safety, officials said.
- In June 2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement took into custody 1,361 undocumented individuals in the Houston region who faced criminal charges or had prior convictions.
- These arrests were part of ICE’s targeted operations last month in southeast Texas, focusing on individuals involved in serious crimes such as gang-related activities and offenses against children.
- Among those detained were Adermis Wilson-Gonzalez, a Cuban national found guilty in 2003 of seizing control of a plane bound from Cuba to Florida, along with several Mexican individuals charged with serious crimes such as homicide and drug trafficking.
- Officials reported 32 arrested were child sex offenders, nine had homicide convictions, 16 were gang members, and one hijacked an airplane, while ICE director Gabriel Martinez emphasized relentless efforts to restore public safety.
- These removals aim to protect communities by removing dangerous criminal aliens and bolster the nation’s immigration system integrity across Houston and Southeast Texas.
