Former England Captain Knight Retires
Knight will end a 16-year England career after the Test, leaving as the team’s most-capped woman with 320 appearances, the ECB said.
- Heather Knight will retire from international cricket following the historic one-off Test match against India at Lord's, the 35-year-old confirmed via the England and Wales Cricket Board.
- Knight captained England on 199 occasions between 2016 and 2025, guiding the side to a 2017 World Cup win at Lord's before being sacked as captain in March last year following a 16-0 Ashes loss in Australia.
- Across 16 years, Knight scored nearly 8,000 international runs with six centuries. Last week, she posted a key 58 during a 133-run stand with Nat Sciver-Brunt in the T20 World Cup semi-final.
- Knight joins team-mate Tammy Beaumont in retiring at the end of the Lord's Test, where England faces a heavy defeat with India holding a 269-run lead after Saturday's play.
- Moving into administration, Knight has accepted a general manager role at London Spirit for the new Hundred season. She said, "I'm really content with this decision" about her transition.
