- Last week, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo died during an ICE traffic stop on July 7 in Houston's East End; agents were surveilling a white van with two other individuals, though Salgado Araujo was not the intended target.
- DHS claimed Salgado Araujo "weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run over an ICE law enforcement officer," but attorney Hugo Balderas-Ibarra stated "At no point did they use the van to ram into the ICE agents and at no point were these ICE agents' lives ever in any danger."
- The Texas Rangers reversed course this week and agreed to investigate alongside the FBI and DHS Inspector General, while Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare pursues his own investigation despite federal control of key evidence.
