Govt Announces Four-Day Eidul Azha Holidays
- The federal government of Pakistan announced a four-day public holiday from June 6 to June 9, 2025, for Eid ul Adha celebrations.
- This announcement followed the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee's confirmation that the first day of Zil Hajj would be May 29 and Eid ul Adha will fall on June 7.
- Eid ul Adha, also called the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion when God replaced his son’s sacrifice with a ram, and involves prayers, family gatherings, and livestock sacrifice.
- The State Bank of Pakistan and all banks will close for the holiday from June 6 to 9, coinciding with the public holiday period, as confirmed by official notices.
- The declared holidays enable widespread observance of this major Islamic festival, marking the culmination of Hajj, and maintain consistent office closures across sectors.
