4 Western Nations Renew Commitment to Implementing 2-State Solution to Palestinian Issue
- Diplomats from four Western nations renewed their commitment at a May 2025 UN meeting in New York to implement a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel.
- This meeting followed the UN General Assembly's decision in resolution ES-10/24 to convene a special conference in June to advance a peace plan.
- The conference aims to produce an action-oriented outcome document outlining a clear path to lasting peace based on UN resolutions and mutual recognition.
- The foreign ministries of Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Norway called the solution morally right and stressed that only a viable Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as capital can meet peace needs.
- This renewed international effort may provide legitimacy and framework to end decades of conflict, urging global members to support Palestine's recognition and peaceful settlement.
