French authorities have arrested five suspects after a magistrate and her mother were held captive last week for around 30 hours in a cryptocurrency ransom plot, prosecutors told AFP on Sunday.
A magistrate from Grenoble and her mother were kidnapped overnight Wednesday to Thursday by a commando unit from a house in Isère, as revealed by Le Dauphiné Libéré. The kidnappers attempted to pressure the young woman's partner, the head of a Lyon-based company involved in cryptocurrencies.
A judge from Grenoble and her mother were abducted and sequestered by abductors. The two women were found in a garage in Bourg-lès-Valence (Drôme) this Friday morning. The investigators prefer the trail of a sequestration linked to cryptocurrency, the judge's spouse practising in the field.
