Five killed in suspected crime spree in Israel
Police said the killings were tied to organised crime as investigators examined revenge, family feud and gang-extortion motives.
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Israel was shaken by a series of suspected criminal acts that left five people dead in a single day. Two men died in car bombings in Jaffa and Holon, while three others were killed in separate homicides.
Criminal violence has escalated among Israel's Arab minority, where gangs extort residents for protection and frequently kill those who fail to pay. About 140 people have died from such violence since the start of the year.
In Jaffa, a bomb killed a father while his 6-year-old son was in the vehicle, and a 38-year-old driver died in a separate Holon explosion. Authorities noted a kindergarten was located approximately 50 meters from the Jaffa explosion site.
An NGO criticized the government's silence, stating, "This is the reality of Israel in 2026 under National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir." The group added the 6-year-old's life "will not be the same, but like the lives of hundreds of families who have lost their loved ones."
Two people were shot dead in Kalansuwa, and a 19-year-old was killed in Tayibe, incidents police linked to organized violence. Investigators suspect the Jaffa act was carried out as revenge for a teenager killed last week.
