MUSGRAVE HARBOUR, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR, JUL 25 – About 950 residents can return as fire crews continue to manage hot spots and a non-consumption water advisory remains in effect, officials said.
- After being displaced since Sunday, residents of Musgrave Harbour can now return home, as the evacuation order issued July 20 has been lifted by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Justice and Public Safety.
- The wildfire was first detected Saturday night about eight kilometres from Musgrave Harbour and advanced to within a kilometre, prompting evacuations on Sunday morning.
- A non-consumption advisory remains in effect for Musgrave Harbour’s water, with water stations available in the Towns of Lumsden and Carmanville, Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Fire crews continue to work hot spots, and residents can still expect smoke and waterbomber activity, as officials say the wildfire remains active.
- Water testing will be conducted by the Water Resources Management Division of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, residents are advised to proceed with caution.
