ERR in Oslo: JEF leaders promised closer cooperation with Ukraine

A phone call with US President Donald Trump during a meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force in Oslo gives Europeans hope that the Americans will put pressure on Russia for peace. The leaders gathered in Norway also pledged closer cooperation with Ukraine.

OSLO. The meeting between ten NATO countries in northern Europe, which cooperate on the military rapid response force JEF, led to Ukraine becoming closer to the group. Ukraine will be allowed to participate in some of Jef's exercises, receive more training support and share lessons from the defensive war against Russia.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, who participated in the meeting of the heads of State of the Joint Expeditionary Corps (JEF) in Oslo, said that the outcome of the war in Ukraine depended on the security of all Europe.

NATO and the war in Ukraine are central to the summit in Oslo. The Finnish president says that Gulf diplomacy with Trump led to talks about the war in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Norway noted that the member States of the coalition "should learn much" from the experience that Ukraine had gained during the war.

The 10 Northern European countries that make up the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) have agreed to strengthen security cooperation among themselves. At the meeting in Oslo today, the countries also decided to include Ukraine in an expanded partnership with the JEF.
