The chairman of the Tisza Party is walking to the picnic in Kötcse "as the end of the Orbán-Gyurcsány era."
In the small village of Kötcse in the south-west of Hungary, Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his opposition challenger Peter Magyar made a political exchange of views on Sunday. While Orban was traditionally a guest of honour of the local "Citizen's picnic", Magyar held his own event a stone's throw away and started the campaign for 2026.
The Kötcse picnic was multi-faceted this year: in addition to Fidesz, Tisza also organized a smaller event. But who was more convincing: Péter Magyar walking from the Balatonőszöd end sign or Viktor Orbán flying in a special plane, showing off his lion-like image?
This is how the Tisza Party president begins the big day of the political season. The walk symbolizes “the end of the Orbán-Gyurcsány era,” he wrote.
While public opinion is boiling over the Tisza Party's tax increase plans, Péter Magyar is inviting his supporters to Kötcse on Sunday.
