- Mitra resigned from his position as chief manager on July 11, 2025, due to health concerns and a heavy workload, and was in the midst of completing his 90-day notice period when the incident occurred.
- Before the incident, Mitra asked staff to leave after banking hours, said he would close the branch, and requested a rope from a colleague.
- Police recovered a suicide note in Mitra's pocket in which he blamed work pressure for his death, pleaded no pressure on colleagues, and apologized to his family.
- Authorities registered a case, sent the body for postmortem, and launched a thorough investigation into circumstances leading to Mitra's suicide.
