Bigg Boss Kannada 12 gets closure notice from Karnataka Pollution Control Board for violation of environmental norms
KSPCB found untreated sewage discharge and unauthorized operations at Bigg Boss Kannada studio, ordering shutdown until compliance with pollution control laws is met.
- On October 6, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board ordered immediate shutdown of the Bidadi studio where Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 is filmed, citing serious violations by Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited.
- For legal reasons, the board cited breaches of the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981, invoking Section 31 against Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited.
- During a site inspection, officials discovered the claimed 250 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant was non-operational, with around 2.5 lakh litres of wastewater discharged and two large diesel generator sets running.
- Officials halted filming, locked the set and relocated contestants to the Eagleton resort while BESCOM was instructed to cut power and organisers had three hours to vacate before seizure.
- Given earlier notices from March 8 and June 11, 2024, authorities are withholding clearance as the season started on September 28, and the SLEC decision was made on September 16.
