World’s ‘most neglected’ refugee crises all in Africa: NGO
Ten 'most neglected' displacement crises are for the first time all in Africa, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) says in a report on Wednesday, expressing concern over the consequences of the war in Ukraine on the continent.
The Norwegian Council for Refugees identifies 600,000 people affected by the crisis in Mozambique. The situation was caused by armed conflict, political turmoil and climate disasters.
According to an aid organisation, many current refugee crises on the African continent are hardly considered internationally.
Every year, the Norwegian Refugee Council publishes its list of the ten most neglected displacement crises in the world. By the year 2024, out of the top ten countries, eight are African.
