– We should take action against every object that enters Polish airspace and is not identified – said Reserve Gen. Mirosław Różański, commenting in an interview with the Polish Army on the case of a drone that exploded in a field in Łuków County.
"There are more and more arguments that Russia wanted to test us with a drone. This test was probably successful and they learned something about us," said General Stanisław Koziej in an interview with Bogdan Zalewski on the internet radio RMF24, commenting on the events in Osiny in the Lublin region, where a Russian drone struck a cornfield.
An unidentified object, likely a Russian drone, crashed into a cornfield in Osiny and exploded, posing a challenge to the security system. Another problem, however, is that the military failed to react immediately, and when they did, it was poorly, writes Reserve Lt. Commander Maksymilian Dura, an expert at Defence24.pl.
It is now known that on the night of August 19th to 20th, a flying bomb exploded in the town of Osiny in the Lublin region. The explosion woke residents around 2:00 a.m. By morning, a distinct crater, six meters wide and half a meter deep, was visible in the cornfield. Several windows in nearby homes were destroyed, but no one was injured.
Such tests are most often conducted to check how the state functions and how it reacts to such events – this is how government spokesman Adam Szłapka spoke on TVN24 about the drone explosion in the town of Osiny in the Lublin region. He noted that Prime Minister Donald Tusk had been informed of the situation "from the very beginning."
Government spokesman Adam Szłapka said that all procedures were immediately implemented and no one was trying to hide anything. He spoke in response to questions about the actions of Polish authorities following the Osiny incident. He emphasized, however, that Poland needs to strengthen its anti-drone defenses.
