Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Accuses Opposition of Political Conspiracy
Archana Gupta accused the Punjab government of trying to suppress a viral video case and said 2 arrests in Gurugram showed a cover-up.
On June 21, Bharatiya Janata Party Haryana president Archana Gupta demanded the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging he desecrated Sikh Guru photographs; Mann dismissed the viral video as a "well-planned conspiracy."
The Akal Takht, the supreme temporal body of Sikhs, issued an edict against Mann on June 15, declaring him 'Guru Dokhi' after Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj claimed forensic labs found the video authentic.
Gurugram Police arrested two men on Tuesday for allegedly fabricating a forensic report, claiming they received Rs 10 lakh from Punjab officials to declare the viral video fake.
Dismissing the charges, Mann on Wednesday claimed the BJP "attacked" forensic lab owners, alleging police used "fear of FIR and torture" to force false confessions regarding the report.
Senior AAP leaders rallied behind the Chief Minister, accusing the BJP, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal of colluding to smear his reputation as the public prepares for elections in eight months.
