Columbia Basin Residents Invited to Join Educational Field Tours Around Revelstoke, Castlegar

  • This fall, Wildsight is hosting a pair of immersive field trips for Columbia Basin residents to camp, explore, and engage in learning experiences along the Columbia River.
  • These tours stem from Wildsight’s ongoing educational efforts since launching the Columbia River Field School in 2018 and releasing Teach the Columbia in 2021.
  • The tours include events on Sept. 5-7 near Revelstoke at Blanket Creek Provincial Park and Sept. 27-29 near Castlegar at Syringa Creek Provincial Park.
  • Program lead Graeme Lee Rowlands explained that participants will have the opportunity to engage with others interested in the Columbia watershed and gain insights into topics such as how dams function, changes in water storage, efforts to revive natural habitats, the return of salmon populations, and the agreements governing the Columbia River.
  • For the first time, these events will be accessible to everyone, offering an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Columbia Basin’s complex future through firsthand experience and a variety of viewpoints.
