Why are fighting game developers waging war against special move inputs?
One thing that's been heavily discussed lately in the fighting game community is one of the core tenets of the genre as a whole... or at least it used to be. The tenet in question is of course inputs, more specifically ones that go beyond simple button presses. Command inputs such as the classic quarter-circle forward Hadoken input seem to be getting phased out from many newer fighting game releases. Why is that, exactly?
