White Sox outfielder Tristan Peters named as an All-Star replacement
Peters, a rookie from Canada, is batting .303 with six homers and 35 RBIs after becoming the first White Sox player to hit for the cycle since 2017.
Chicago White Sox outfielder Tristan Peters was named to the American League All-Star team Saturday as a replacement for Athletics slugger Nick Kurtz, who went on the 10-day injured list with a thumb sprain.
Kurtz, originally set to start at first base, was sidelined retroactive to Friday, creating the roster opening; Peters earned the selection after becoming the first White Sox player to hit for the cycle since 2017 during Friday's rout of the Athletics.
In his first full major league season, Peters is batting.303 with six home runs and 35 RBIs. White Sox manager Will Venable praised his consistency, stating, "He's somebody that does it all right."
Peters joins teammates Miguel Vargas and Munetaka Murakami on the American League roster for the All-Star Game in Philadelphia next weekend, with Peters saying, "I'm just so honored to be able to play with them."
Acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in December 2025, the 26-year-old outfielder previously played for the Savannah Bananas; Peters, a native of Winkler, Manitoba, called his All-Star selection "a pipe dream at the start of the season.
