White House blocks CNN from trip on Air Force One
On Saturday, the White House blocked CNN journalists from joining President Donald Trump on an Air Force One trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, The Washington Post reported, citing two people familiar with the decision.
District Judge Tim Kelly ordered the Trump administration on Thursday to restore press passes for CNN, Politico, and NOW, ruling the ban likely unconstitutional due to lack of factual support for security claims.
Despite this federal order, reporters remained denied entry to various White House events, including the arrival of Chinese President Jinping Thursday night, though CNN received access at the National Archives on Friday.
The White House reportedly restricted CNN to a photojournalist and audio technician for the Air Force One trip, while other networks could bring reporters and producers. Neither the White House nor CNN responded to comment requests.
Kelly blocked officials from enforcing the ban for 14 days, ordering immediate return of press passes, yet the administration continues limiting media access to President Donald Trump while litigation proceeds.
