Across the US and Latin America, subways still see lower ridership and financial pain. But a data analysis shows that passenger counts are higher than ever in some Europe and Asia cities.

Abney, Benham bill would tax rideshare services to fund public transit

The ride-share tax would amount to 6% of the cost of a fare. A second bill would raise a state car-rental fee from $2 to $6.50 and boost a fee on car leases from 3% to 5%. Revenue from those taxes would be used to fund public transportation systems around the state, including Allegheny County’s Pittsburgh Regional Transit.
