- In the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Kohli scored an unbeaten 74, reaching 2,292 runs from 305 innings to surpass Kumar Sangakkara as the second-highest ODI run-scorer.
- In 305 matches, Kohli has a strike rate of 93 and an average of nearly 58, and he is the only batter with more than 50 centuries, two more than Sachin Tendulkar.
- Following them, Kumar Sangakkara recorded 463 matches and scored 14,234 runs, according to the ODI all-time run list.
- With his Sydney effort, Kohli also broke Tendulkar's record for most white-ball runs in international cricket, and at 39 years old he now trails only Sachin Tendulkar on the ODI list.
- Kohli, who debuted in ODIs in 2008, is the only top 10 ODI run-scorer with an average of 50 or higher and is widely called the `Chase Master`.
