An Upstate councilman known for his steady hand and infectious grin has died at age 84

Inman City Councilman Melvin Fowler, who was described as a dedicated public servant who brought steady leadership to the city of a little more than 3,000, died after prolonged illness. He was 84.

INMAN, S.C. (WSPA) - The City of Inman reported that one of their councilmembers has passed following health challenges. Councilman Melvin Fowler passed away June 3. Officials said that Fowler, during his last months was fighting health challenges that began approximately nine months ago.
