Thousands of Bedouin protest in Be'er Sheva against house demolitions
Demonstration is the second in two weeks as the razing of the unrecognized village of a-Sar gets underway – the biggest community in Israel to face destruction. The Council of Unrecognized Villages says that about 50 houses have been demolished without residents being offered an alternative home
Bedouin protesters arrived at the Beersheba District Court to protest the policies promoted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. "He has problematic agendas, and he is trying to take land that people live on," one of them said. "Instead of building infrastructure, they are destroying and not providing solutions."
This is the second demonstration in the past two weeks against the backdrop of the beginning of the demolition of the unrecognized village of A-Sir - the largest village the state has been working to demolish so far. According to the Council for Unrecognized Villages, so far about 50 homes in the village have been demolished without their residents being offered any other housing solution.
