The United Arab Emirates is extraditing three top criminals to Belgium, according to Justice Minister Annelies Verlinden (CD&V). They were put on a Defense Department plane and are en route to Belgium. The most prominent among them is Othman El Ballouti, a key figure in the international drug trade and a leader in the Antwerp drug scene. He is also the uncle of Firdaous, the 11-year-old girl who died in 2023 when her house in Merksem was bombed.
