Sudanese Civil War (2023–Present) · SudanA drone attack by a notorious paramilitary group hit a vehicle carrying displaced families in central Sudan Saturday, killing at least 24 people, including eight children, a doctors’ group said, a day after a World Food Program aid convoy was targeted. Saturday’s attack by the Rapid Support Forces occurred close to the city of Rahad in North Kordofan province, said the Sudan Doctors Network, which tracks the country’s ongoing war. The vehicle was transporting displaced people who fled fighting in the Dubeiker area, the group said in a statement. Among the dead children were two infants.See the Story

Olympics · CanadaValerie Maltais has won bronze for Canada in the women’s 3,000 metre speed skating event at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Saturday. Maltais, of La Baie, Que., had a time of three minutes 56.93 seconds, while Italy’s Francesca Lollobrigida took the gold on home soil with an Olympic record time of 3:54.28. Ragne Wiklund of Norway was second in 3:56.54. It is the third Olympic medal for Maltais in her fifth Winter Games, having won silver in the 3,000 metre short track relay in 2014 and gold in the team pursuit event in 2022.See the Story
